Ski Accommodation in the Swiss Alps
Switzerland is home to some of the most wonderful ski resorts you will ever find. And, there are plenty of brilliant accommodation options to accompany them.
Whether you are a novice skier or someone who takes to the slopes two or three times a year, you will find so much to delight you when you choose to take a winter sports holiday in this amazingly beautiful part of the world.
It seems that everywhere you turn in Switzerland, there are wonderful resorts for keen winter sports enthusiasts. The main areas for skiing in this country are divided into the main regions: Valais and Vaud, Bernese Oberland, followed by Central Switzerland, the famous Graubünden region and then the mountainous parts of Eastern Switzerland.
In all of these parts of the country, you will be able to find brilliant resorts and accommodation to stay in such as cheap hotels, some of the best self catering apartments you have ever seen, and comfortable chalets.
Try Zermatt for some challenging slopes, or book yourself and all of the family in to a ski school in Wengen (which is great for socialising and relaxing as well as for hitting the slopes).
Another famous resort area in Switzerland is St Moritz – indeed, this has been a resort for those in the know for centuries. All of these options are perfect for snowboarders as well as skiers, and there are pistes to suit people of all abilities. Another advantage of staying in accommodation near a ski resort in Switzerland is the fact that there are always charming little villages to explore – many of them dating back to the medieval times – and your resort may very well offer guided tours of the area and its scenery so make sure to explore all of your options there.
Want to really challenge yourself? Head to the Swiss Alps and ski, climb or snowboard in the shadow of Monta Rosa. This mountain’s peak known as Dufourspitze rises up to 4634 m above sea level and is the country’s highest point.
