Soll itself is quite compact, and you will need to hop on a bus to get to the slopes. There are plenty of affordable hotels on offer in the town, and busy bars offering live music are easy to find.
Book a winter holiday in Alpach for a resort that’s family friendly. It is pretty, atmospheric and perfect for beginners – in fact the nursery slope is right in the centre of town. The buildings are mostly wood-and-stone places, and things are a little quieter.
There are miles of slopes at Bad Hofgastein and something for all levels with wide red, blue and black runs offering plenty of open space. This town has a great choice of chalets and apartments, as well as 3 and 4-star hotels.
Ischel is sitting at a high altitiude, and the runs are suitable for experienced skiers and snowboarders. The accommodation here is luxurious and sophisticated.
Lech is the place to be seen and a favourite resort with celebrities and occasional royals. It is part of the huge Ski Arlberg which connects resorts, such as Zurs and St Anton, and is well-known for the immaculate piste and high-tech lift system. Restaurants and bars are plentiful and the party atmosphere starts early here.
