Bobbejaanland is Belgian family park boasting several attractions for the entire family and several thrill rodes. Bobbejaan Schoepen, a Flemish entertainer who was internationally recognized in the 1950s and early 1960s, founded Bobbejaanland in December 1961.
After years of touring around, Schoepen decided to build his own music theater in Lichtaart. He built a concert hall with a capacity for 1,000 guests where he would perform along with other European musical artists. In December 1961, Bobbejaanland theme park opened to the public.
Schoepen and family sold Bobbejaanland theme park in 2004 to Spanish-American Parque Reunidos group. Bobbejaanland was the last family owned and operated amusement theme park in Belgium.
The park offers their guests several roller coasters such as the Revolution, Dreamcatcher, Speedy Bob and the Typhoon. Thrill rides include the Sledge Hammer and Fly Away. The park offers also many water rides like El Rio, Banana Battle and Indiana River. Be sure to visit the very unique museum about the Indians which is only open for a couple of hours.
