Gare de l’Est major train station is located in east of la Gare du Nord within walking distance and linked by metro with Gare du Nord. It serves high speed trains such as Thalys, TGV, and ICE to eastern cities such as Strasbourg, Stuttgart, Luxembourg, and Cologne and also regular speed trains to cities around the Ile-de-France region.
The Gare de l’Est is one of the six large termini of the SNCF network at Paris. It is located in the Xe arrondissement, not far from the Gare du Nord train station, facing the boulevard du Strasbourg, part of the north-south axis of Paris created by Baron Haussmann. It is the largest and the oldest train station in Paris France.
The train station now provides transportation by night trains to major cities in Central Europe such as Basel in Switzerland, Munich in Germany and Vienna in Austria.
