La Croisette Boulevard – Beaches
Boulevard de la Croisette Cannes runs for two kilometers along Cannes’ Mediterranean shoreline and beach in Southern France. It’s the center of the city’s tourist activity and is known for its luxury hotels, designer shops, excellent restaurants and high class shops. The Croisette Blvd is also home to the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès, which is the site of the annual Cannes Film Festival, held each May.
La Croisette gets its name from a small cross that used to stand east of the bay. It’s a favourite spot for locals and tourists. To one side there’s the Mediterranean, the Lerins islands off the coast, and the Esterel mountain range. On the other, there are palm trees, the beach, elegant belle epoque hotels and fashionable boutiques. It is an ideal place to people-watch.
Cannes Beaches can be divided into two categories. You have the private beaches, which belong to the luxury hotels and resorts, and on the other hand you have the public beaches, which are the free public beaches.
