Madrid - Atocha Train Station - Estación de Atocha - Spain :

Madrid Railway Station Atocha -- In Madrid there are two main railway stations, the Atocha train station just south of the city center of Madrid and a smaller station to the north, Chamartin.  The Atocha station is easily reached by the Metro via the Atocha RENFE Metro station (It's on line "1" also known as the "blue" line).

The majority of trains from Madrid depart from Atocha. This includes all services to the south & east (including those going to Barcelona & Valencia), as well as some northern routes (including Pamplona, Vitoria & Zaragoza) though international services.

The train station is located at the intersection of Calle de Atocha and Paseo del Prado in the Prado district of Madrid Spain.

The Madrid Atocha Train Station is Madrid's largest and first train station. The station is exceptional because it is made of steel, glass and its concourse contains tropical gardens and a permanent display of sculptures.

AVE High Speed Train -- The AVE is the high-speed train service in Spain. AVE trains are luxurious and are an efficient way to get around the country. All services currently radiate from Madrid, with the latest stretch to be added being the Madrid-Segovia-Valladolid route which began in December 2007. The service also takes you from Madrid to Seville, Malaga, Toledo and nearly to Barcelona. Madrid to Sevilla in just two and a half hours! The other one will take you from Madrid to Valencia in 3 and a half hours!
