Estadio do Dragao Football Stadium -- The Estádio do Dragão in Porto is the new home of one of Portugal's top clubs - FC Porto, most recently European Champions in 2004. The US$109m stadium with its spectacular transparent roof - 'the veil' - was built on the site of the old Antas stadium and is part of the 'Sport City' redevelopment project in the city. The stadium also contains sections decorated with traditional Portuguese tiles - azulejos. The Estádio das Dragão stadium was designed by architect Manuel Salgado and will serve as a venue for concerts and other events.

The Estádio do Dragão is not exclusively a sports complex. It includes a conference centre, leisure facilities, shopping areas and restaurants, all linked to the public areas at different levels in the stands, which is why UEFA has classified it as a five-star stadium.

The stadium has two rotating giant screens, one at each end. On non-match days, the screens are turned to face the plaza around the stadium and the Via de Cintura Interna ring road, one of the busiest thoroughfares in the city, so that the equipment can be used to support other activities.

One of the technological innovations is the stadium's own private television channel operated by the club, showing interviews and other features around the complex.

Directions -- The stadium has direct access to the VCI - Porto's ring road - and to the Portuguese motorway network. STCP ( Porto's city bus company)No21 and 78 buses, with stops in Rotunda da Boavista and Avenida dos Aliados, respectively, also go to the stadium area.

The Antas Metro Station will also be a way of getting to the stadium. There is a direct metro line from Campanhã Railway Station, the terminus for the fast Alfa/Pendular trains between Lisbon and Porto, making the metro an excellent choice for those arriving in Porto by train. Porto's Francisco Sá Carneiro International Airport is about 15 kilometres from the stadium and there are direct buses to the city centre.
