City of Manchester Football Stadium -- The spectacular City of Manchester Stadium is the home of Manchester City Football Club. The Stadium itself is an exciting and unique venue with extensive and versatile facilities offering fantastic opportunities for conferences, events, weddings, Christmas parties, private functions, meetings, banquets seminars and product launches.

The 48,000 seat City of Manchester stadium was first occupied by the Manchester City teams at the beginning of the season in August 2003. The stadium had originally been built to host the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester. It had been decided that on conclusion, Manchester City Football Club would inherit the stadium as their new home ground to replace the old (but much loved) Maine Road stadium in Moss Side.

After the Games the Stadium was further developed, a new North Stand was installed and the running track was removed and re-laid at other sporting venues. Many fine new facilities were also added, including six restaurants and purpose-built function rooms which provide bookable on-site hospitality on both match days and non-match days.

There are also over 2000 car parking spaces on site, (a vast improvement over the old street parking at Maine Road), and a further 8,000 accredited car parking spaces in easy reach of the Stadium.

Manchester Piccadilly station (one mile walk). Manchester Piccadilly is the closest main line station to SportCity and is approximately a 20 to 30 minute walk from the City of Manchester Stadium. Ashburys is a smaller station situated to the south on Alan Turing Way and is a 15 minute walk to the stadium.

# Walking : There is a safe, sign posted and well lit route from the city centre and Piccadilly station to SportCity. It takes in Store Street, Pollard Street, Ashton New Road and Holt Town. Stewards will be on hand along the route which takes around 30 minutes from Piccadilly Gardens and 20 to 30 from the train station.
