Munich -- Munich (München) is the capital of Bavaria and one of Germany's major cultural centers and is one of Germany's favourite tourist destinations. Munich is Germany's high-tech hub (Silicon Bavaria) and home of the world-famous Oktoberfest. Its location, situated in the southern German state of Bavaria, at the foot of the Alps, is idyllic.

The heart of the city is the historic center around Marienplatz, surrounded by museums, churches and market stalls. Some popular museums are the German Theater Museum, Valentine Museum, Museum of Mankind and Nature and the Residenz (Egyptian Art and the crown jewels). Check out Schwabing, a traditional area known for its many Kneipen (pubs) and night spots. Some popular sights in the city are the Frauenkirche (one of the largest churches in southern Germany), the Olympic Tower, the Nymphenburg Palace and the English Garden and many more. Visit the Englischer Garten which borders the River Isar and is very popular among joggers, sunbathers and people who just want to stroll or have a picnic.

Don't miss the Neuschwanstein Castle, the inspiration for the Disneyland's Sleeping Beauty Castle. It's located in the city of Allgau, which can be accessed from Fussen by car or by bus on a 15 minutes ride. Public transport from Munich to Fussen is frequent by train.
