Copenhagen -- It’s the largest and most important town in Denmark, an old merchants' town overlooking the entrance to the Baltic Sea. It is a city with museums, cultural attractions, cafes, a lively nightlife, restaurants, and entertainment of the highest caliber.
It is charming and compact city with a bustling centre (known as Indre By – ‘Inner City’). The old town is bordered on the west by Radhuspladsen (Town Hall Square), Tivoli Gardens and the Central Railroad Station; on the north by Orsteds Park and the Norreport Train Station; on the east by Kongens Have (Rosenborg Garden) and Kongens Nytorv; and on the south by Christianshavn.
You should visit Copenhagen's most famous attraction, the little mermaid statue near the Churchillpark, Tivoli Gardens, The National Gallery, Stroget, The National Museum, a canal tour and many more.
The climate in Copenhagen is a temperate maritime one and generally quite changeable. Winters are cold and cloudy but summers are warm and sunny. There are many good hotels and motels in the city some with last minute offers.
Time zone -- GMT + 1 (GMT + 2 from last Sunday in March to last Sunday in October)
Currency -- The currency in Denmark is the Danish Krone (DKK), which is divided into 100 øre. Danish banknotes are issued in denominations of 1000 Dkk, 500 Dkk, 200 Dkk, 100 Dkk and 50 Dkk, while coins come in denominations of 20 Dkk, 10 Dkk, 5 Dkk, 2 Dkk, 1 Dkk, 50 øre and 25 øre. Unlike much of Europe, Denmark has not adopted the Euro currency, however you will find many shops will still accept it as payment as long as you don't mind any change being given in Danish Krone.
Language -- The official language of Denmark is Danish although the majority of Danes do speak some English. The Danish people have long been used to learning and speaking other languages and are usually happy to do so. The Danes who are involved in the travel industry are likely to speak impeccable English and in many cases German too.
Electricity -- 220V, 50Hz
Air Connections -- Copenhagen has two airports, Kastrup (the large international airport) and Roskilde Lufthavn (a smaller international and general aviation airport). Kastrup, also known as Copenhagen Airport, is Europe's 17th busiest airport and has four times won the award as being "The best airport in Europe", and two times as "The best airport in the world".
