Dublin Temple Bar -- Fun, shops, culture, pubs (lots), restaurants (even more) and, um, tourists. Temple Bar is Dublin's self-designated Cultural Quarter, consciously developed since 1991 out of a rambling collection of crumbling warehouses and derelict buildings which occupied what had once been the heart of mediaeval Dublin. In the evening, Temple Bar is all about eating and drinking and having fun. But don't miss out on the cultural experience.
Temple Bar – Dublin’s Cultural Quarter is located on the south bank of the River Liffey and is home to more than 50 cultural organisations offering you an opportunity to experience contemporary arts in some of the most spectacular and innovative cultural venues in the city.
The area also boasts a year round programme of FREE outdoor cultural activity for all the family.
Take the time to attend live lunch time performances, film and family fun on the areas public streets and spaces, including Meeting House Square, the spectacular open-air performance venue in the heart of the capital. Browse through the areas weekend markets – Temple Bar Food Market, every Saturday on Meeting House Square, Temple Bar Book Market, every Saturday on Temple Bar Square and Cow’s Lane Fashion and Design Market, every Saturday in the Old City area of Temple Bar.
Temple Bar, Dublin’s Cultural Quarter is the proud owner of three very different but three very creative outdoor markets – Temple Bar Book Market, Temple Bar Food Market and the all new Designer Mart at Cow’s Lane.
Temple Bar itself is the central street of an area that stretches from O'Connell Bridge and Westmoreland Street westward to Christchurch Cathedral, bounded on the south and north by Dame Street and the river.
