Budapest Castle Hill District or known as Várhegy or The Var in Hungarian is one of the oldest parts of Budapest in Hungary. The district is famous for its old, medieval, Baroque, and 19th-century houses, churches, and public buildings. The whole area is protected as an ancient monument. Budapest’s Castle District offers great historic attractions, interesting museums, charming, crooked streets following the shape of the hill, little cafés and restaurants. Matthias Church or Mátyás templom -- church located at the heart of Buda's Castle District, originally built in Romanesque style in 1015. Fishermen’s Bastion or Halászbástya -- large white tower and terrace complex built between 1890 and 1905. It hangs over the side of Castle Hill beneath the Matyas Church.
